Bnei Akiva Reopens In Germany

79 years after its banishment by the Nazis in 1938, Bnei Akiva, the world’s largest religious Zionist youth organization, reopened in Germany last year. But the German groups are not concentrating on moving Jews to Israel.

Ilya Trubman, Germany’s director of operations, admitted to Times of Israel that the organization’s activities are putting no special emphasis on Zionism, instead concentrating on providing “quality Jewish education.”

This is because the movement is working through local communities, which do not want their members to leave for Israel.

Since the 1980s, Germany’s Jewish community has grown from 25,000 to 100,000.
