Trump: Strange Gained In Polls Because Of My Endorsement

President Trump on Saturday accused the so-called “fake news” media of failing to recognize that Sen. Luther Strange (R-Ala.), who was vanquished in a runoff election against GOP candidate Roy Moore this week, gained in the polls earlier this year after Trump endorsed him.

“In analyzing the Alabama Primary race, FAKE NEWS always fails to mention that the candidate I endorsed went up MANY points after endorsement!” Trump tweeted.

Strange, who was tapped to fill the Senate seat vacated by Attorney General Jeff Sessions in February, lost a runoff election against Moore by nearly 10 points on Tuesday. Read more at The Hill.

Trump: ‘Very Important’ For NFL Players To Stand During Anthem

President Trump is calling for NFL players to stand during the national anthem at games on Sunday.

“Very important that NFL players STAND tomorrow, and always, for the playing of our National Anthem. Respect our Flag and our Country!” he tweeted.

The president ignited a public furor last week when he said during a rally in Alabama that players who kneel in protest during the anthem should be fired and urged supporters to walk out of NFL games when athletes take a knee. Read more at The Hill.

Pence Defends Puerto Rico Response

Vice President Mike Pence defended the federal government’s response to hurricane damage in Puerto Rico on Saturday, saying that response teams are making “real progress.”

“With leadership of @POTUS & @ricardorossello — @FEMA & Team Puerto Rico making real progress,” Pence tweeted at President Trump and Puerto Rico Gov. Ricardo Rossello (D).

“Millions more meals & water delivered today. 51 of 69 hospitals taking patients, half of grocery/big box stores now open, 11 major highways cleared & over 60% of fuel stations open,” Pence continued, “much more work to do but as @POTUS has said to PR & VI: We are with you, we will stay with you, and we will come back stronger than ever.”

The zekan hamashgichim, Rav Dov Yoffe, mashgiach of Kfar Chassidim, was hospitalized at Laniado Hospital in Netanya on Erev Yom Kippur.

Rav Shmuel Auerbach, rosh yeshiva of Yeshiva Maalos Hatorah in the Shaarei Chesed neighborhood of Yerushalayim, celebrated his 87th birthday on Yom Kippur, today.

As in previous years, talmidim and admirers wished the rosh yeshiva a gut Yom Tov and mazel tov.
